Tierra Verde Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Federal Prison For Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material
Tampa, Florida / Wednesday, August 20, 2025 – U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber has sentenced Andrew Newburg (41, Tierra Verde) to 10 years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Newburg will also be required to register as a sex offender. He pleaded guilty on April 29, 2025.
According to court documents, Newburg distributed videos of CSAM over a social media application in February 2020 and October 2022. Newburg also possessed CSAM through a social media platform.
This case was investigated by Tampa Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ilyssa M. Spergel.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
