SUSPECT WANTED IN BP GAS STATION HOMICIDE ARRESTED BY U.S. MARSHALS
Akron, Ohio – Early this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Demario McCall, 41. McCall was wanted by the Akron Police Department for murder, having weapons while under disability, and carrying concealed weapons.
McCall is the suspect in the July 6, 2025, shooting death of Ar’Mon Covington, 26. It is believed that McCall was harassing a woman at the BP gas station located at 778 Grant St. in Akron when Covington attempted to intervene. McCall shot and killed Covington in the parking lot of the gas station. A warrant was issued for McCall’s arrest on July 8.
The Nor thern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF)began looking for McCall immediately after the warrant was issued. McCall was featured as the Fugitive of the Week on July 14. Early this morning, members of the NOVFTF located McCall at an address in the 500 block of Ardella Ave in Akron. McCall was arrested without incident, however, a loaded firearm was recovered as well.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This was a senseless crime that occurred in our community. A repeat, violent fugitive and a firearm are now off the streets due to the hard work of the Akron Police Department, and our task force.”
