Noblesville Man Extradited From Egypt by FBI for 2023 Fishers Shooting
FISHERS / February 6, 2026 —Jacfar Abdi, of Noblesville, was arrested in Cairo, Egypt, and extradited to the United States by special agents with FBI Indianapolis on January 27, 2026, in connection with a 2023 shooting in Fishers that left a man wounded.
On November 19, 2023, Fishers Police officers responded to a local hospital after being notified that a gunshot victim was receiving treatment. Through initial information gathered, officers quickly began an investigation at the shooting location on Rhineland Pass in The District at Saxony Apartments.
Investigators determined that two vehicles and multiple individuals were involved in an incident in the area around 4 p.m. that day. Through interviews and the collection of video evidence, investigators learned that Abdi drove to the location, entered the victim’s vehicle, and shot the victim during an armed robbery. Abdi then returned to his vehicle, which was occupied by four additional individuals, and fled the area.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by individuals who were in his vehicle.
After Abdi was identified as the primary suspect, investigators determined that he had fled the United States to avoid prosecution. The Fishers Police Department detective assigned to the FBI VCTF as a Task Force Officer, initiated a fugitive investigation and coordinated with federal and international law enforcement partners. That investigation ultimately determined Abdi was in Cairo, Egypt.
With assistance from FBI Legal Attaché Cairo (LEGAT Cairo) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, Abdi was arrested and held pending extradition. He was extradited to Indiana from Egypt by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, and custody was transferred to the Fishers Police Department on January 27, 2026.
“This arrest and extradition demonstrate the FBI’s relentless commitment to pursuing violent offenders, no matter where they flee,” said FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Timothy J. O’Malley. “Through close coordination with our partners at the Fishers Police Department, FBI Legal Attaché Cairo, and our international law enforcement counterparts, we were able to locate Abdi overseas and bring him back to the United States to face justice.”
“The Fishers Police Department is relentless in the pursuit of those who choose to commit violent acts within our city. The FPD detective assigned to the FBI VCTF worked tirelessly and utilized every tool available to locate this violent felon and get justice for the victim,” said Fishers Police Chief Ed Gebhart. “We are incredibly proud of our partnership with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and all of the agencies involved in it, who are dedicated to the safety of our communities.”
Abdi is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail on the following seven felony charges:
- Attempted Murder (Level 1 Felony)
- Armed Robbery (Level 3 Felony)
- Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony)
- Robbery (Level 3 Felony)
- Organized Retail Theft (Level 3 Felony)
- Criminal Recklessness (Level 6 Felony)

The case was investigated by the Fishers Police Department, FBI Indianapolis Violent Crimes Task Force, U.S. Customs and Border Protection—Chicago Field Office—Border Security Division, FBI Legal Attache—Cairo, and Department of Justice—Office of International Affairs.
A charge is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
