U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive in Alaska Wanted for Rape of a Child in Massachusetts
Boston, MA / August 24, 2026 – The U.S. Marshals Service Districts of Massachusetts and Alaska today announced the apprehension of John R. Monge, who was wanted in Massachusetts on charges related to the rape of a child.
According to court records, the charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred in Bristol County, Massachusetts, in August 2024. Monge, an adult male, is alleged to have traveled from Anchorage, Alaska, to Bristol County and engaged in sexual acts with a child whom he had met online.
In July 2026, the alleged victim reported the incident to law enforcement. An arrest warrant for Monge was subsequently issued on July 31, 2026, charging him with Rape of Child, Statutory; Entice Child Under 16; and Indecent Assault & Battery on Person 14 or Over.
The U.S. Marshals Service District of Massachusetts determined through its fugitive investigation that Monge was residing in Alaska, and on August 14, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Service District of Alaska located and arrested Monge at his residence in Anchorage. He will be held pending his return to Massachusetts to face the charges against him.
“The allegations in this case are deeply disturbing. No child should ever be subjected to the horrific conduct alleged in this case, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and their family. I am extremely thankful that this fugitive is now in custody and off the streets,” said Dennis Matulewicz, head of the U.S. Marshals Service for the District of Massachusetts. “This arrest also demonstrates the nationwide reach of the U.S. Marshals Service and the tremendous coordination between our districts. Whether a fugitive is hiding across the Commonwealth or thousands of miles away, we will utilize our nationwide footprint and outstanding law enforcement partnerships to locate and apprehend that individual and bring them before the courts to face justice.”
