ICE arrests convicted armed robber with help from Florida police partners
MIAMI / September 2, 2026 — ICE Miami, along with local police partners from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Roberto Gonzalez-Fonseca July 31. Gonzalez-Fonseca is a 57-year-old criminal illegal alien from Cuba who was convicted of armed robbery and possession of cocaine. He currently faces new charges of cocaine possession following a Feb. 25 arrest in Florida.
“ICE officers are committed to making our communities safe, and arresting Gonzalez-Fonseca — a convicted armed robber who’s known to possess drugs — is part of a larger picture,” said ICE Deputy Director Charles Wall. “Every ICE arrest that takes a violent criminal illegal alien off the streets helps restore public safety, just as President Trump promised.”
Gonzalez-Fonseca entered the U.S. lawfully Oct. 3, 1991, at or near Miami. He later adjusted his status to become a lawful permanent resident, but on Nov. 1, 2010 — after he was convicted for armed robbery — an immigration judge in Chaparral, New Mexico ordered him removed.
He is in ICE custody pending removal from the U.S.
