No Drone Zone: Temporary Flight Restrictions in Place for Penn State Home Football Games
September 4, 2026 - The FBI, in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police and Penn State University Police and Public Safety, wants to remind the public of the rules prohibiting the use of drones in and around Penn State home football games this season.
Law enforcement has established a 'No Drone Zone' for Penn State home football games with temporary flight restrictions (TFR) in place surrounding the festivities.
The dates of the 2026 home games are:
- September 5, 2026
- September 19, 2026
- September 26, 2026
- October 10, 2026
- October 31, 2026
- November 14, 2026
- November 21, 2026
TFR Logistics:
- Radius: 3 nautical miles (NMR) centered on Beaver Stadium
- Altitude: Up to 3,000 above ground level
- Timing: Restriction goes into effect 1 hour before the scheduled kickoff and remains active until 1 hour after the game ends
For the first home game on September 5, the TFR will begin at 2:30 p.m. EST and end at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Only specially authorized flights — such as for law enforcement, emergency response, or with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved waivers are permitted. Before every flight, drone operators should check for active flight restrictions using an FAA-approved B4UFLY service providers.
The FBI works with the FAA to enforce TFRs, using federally authorized capabilities to detect, track, and assess unauthorized drone activity, with personnel from both agencies deployed full-time to identify drone activity that could threaten aviation safety, critical infrastructure, or publicity safety out or around event venues.
