U.S. Marshals in Massachusetts Arrest Fugitive Wanted for Murder of 19-Year-Old Girl
Springfield, MA / September 18, 2026 – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) District of Massachusetts announced the arrest of Alex Alejandro today, September 18, 2026, in Springfield, Massachusetts, on charges including murder, attempted murder, and firearms offenses.
Alejandro was wanted by the Springfield Police Department in connection with the August 16, 2026, fatal shooting of a 19-year-old female near 3100 Main Street in Springfield. According to investigators, Alejandro allegedly conducted a drive-by shooting that resulted in the victim’s death.
Alejandro is also charged in connection with a separate August 9, 2026, shooting on Carew Street in Springfield. In that incident, a victim was shot in the head and remains hospitalized with severe head injuries.
Members of the USMS District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force (DMAFTF) located and arrested Alejandro in Springfield today. The arrest was carried out with significant assistance from USMS DMAFTF partners from the Springfield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.
“Today’s arrest demonstrates what can be accomplished when federal, state, and local law enforcement work together with a shared purpose,” said Dennis Matulewicz, head of the USMS for the District of Massachusetts. “Individuals wanted for serious violent crimes such as this will be pursued, located, and brought before the courts to answer for the charges against them. I commend our Fugitive Task Force for their outstanding work.”
USMS DMAFTF participants include the USMS District of Massachusetts, Massachusetts State Police, Boston Police, Brockton Police, Cambridge Police, Chicopee Police, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Haverhill Police, Lowell Police, Middlesex Sheriff’s Department, New Bedford Police, Plymouth County Sheriff's Department, Quincy Police, Randolph Police, Rochester Police, Springfield Police, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, West Springfield Police, Worcester Police, Massachusetts National Guard Counter Drug Program, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
