Escaped Shreveport Inmate Who Triggered Multi-Agency Manhunt Indicted for Violent Carjacking
SHREVEPORT / Friday, October 16, 2026 – On October 7, 2026, a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging Tre'veon Jackson, 24, of Shreveport, with Carjacking Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Jackson faces up to 25 years in federal prison for the charge.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement.
According to court documents, Jackson escaped from custody during a medical transport on September 14, 2026, and, shortly thereafter, approached a man outside a hotel in Bossier City, violently assaulted him, and stole the victim’s vehicle. Jackson then allegedly led law enforcement officers on a high speed pursuit exceeding 110 miles per hour before crashing the vehicle and fleeing on foot. A multi-agency manhunt followed, and Jackson remained at large for several days until he was rearrested in Marshall, Texas, by the United States Marshals Service. He is now in federal custody.
The FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Bossier City Police Department, Marshall Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Texas State Technical College Police Department, and the Texas Rangers investigated the case. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Allison Foster and Samuel Crichton, with assistance from Legal Assistant Emily Favrot.
An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case is part of the Western District of Louisiana’s GATOR (Gun Crime Abatement and Targeted Offender Response) Task Force initiative, which focuses on investigating, prosecuting, and preventing violent crime through a unified, multi-agency strategy in the Shreveport and Bossier City area. The Task Force is built around a core group of FBI Special Agents and FBI Task Force Officers from Louisiana State Police, Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Shreveport Police Department, who work closely with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Probation & Parole, the Shreveport City Marshal, and Caddo Parish Juvenile Services.
