ICE removes accused violent fugitive to face homicide charges in native Guyana
NEW YORK / October 26, 2026 – On Sept. 18, ICE removed Kanand Ojha, an illegal alien from Guyana who was wanted in his home country for a 2015 murder.
“New Yorkers are safer today because this accused murderer is no longer free to roam our neighborhoods,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations New York City Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo. “Officials who obstruct lawful cooperation between immigration authorities and law enforcement partners place politics ahead of safety and allow dangerous fugitives to embed themselves within our communities. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin’s leadership, protecting Americans and removing dangerous individuals from our communities is wired into everything we do.”
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 45-year-old Ojha Sept. 8, 2025, in Long Island City, New York. This highly trained unit is comprised of personnel from U.S. Marshals Service, ICE ERO, and Homeland Security Investigations.
Ojha is wanted by the Guyanese National Police Force for the alleged murder of Nephi Noel in the capital city of Georgetown, July 15, 2015. According to Guyanese authorities, Ojha’s alleged accomplice, Ron “Andel” Forde, was tried in June 2017 and sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading to a lesser charge of manslaughter.
Ojha entered the United States lawfully through New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport July 22, 2015; however, his lawful status was revoked July 27, 2015, as a result of his outstanding arrest warrant in Guyana.
