STOCKHOLM, May 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Skanska has signed a contract with The Norwegian Road authority to build the new E6 highway between Sommerset and Megården in Nordland County, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 4.4 billion, about SEK 4.2 billion, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter of 2025. The contract consists of approximately 21.5 kilometers of new road between Sommerset and Megården. The work includes design and construction of 3 tunnels, totaling approximately 13.8 kilometers, approximately 6.9 kilometers road in the day zone, 3 bridges and several smaller constructions. The project shall be certified to BREEAM Infrastructure "Design and Construction phase" very good. The E6 Sommerset - Megården is the southernmost and first stage of the overall project E6 Megården-Mørsvikbotn. The project is part of the long-term work to increase traffic safety and capacity on the current E6 south of Bodø so that the road system stimulates growth and development in the region. Detailed engineering will start immediately, and construction work is expected to begin during May 2025. The road is planned to be completed during summer 2031.
